Our forging class runs from early morning until noon.

We usually begin around 6:00 AM, but the exact start time depends on the master craftsman’s schedule (we will confirm with you beforehand). The class always ends at 11:50 AM on weekdays. This timing allows students to experience the traditional forging rhythm while avoiding the midday heat.

What the cost includes:

Your payment covers entry to the forge, guided observation throughout the full morning workflow, explanations at every stage, and permission to record for personal learning.

What you need to bring:

Even though this is a non-hands-on session, for safety, please wear cotton clothing, jeans or cotton pants, and closed-toe footwear (shoes only). Do not forget to bring drinking water, your phone or camera for documentation.

Hands-on Beginner

This session is designed for first-timers who want to experience real forging with guidance. The day usually begins around 6:00 AM (final starting time will be confirmed by the master craftsman) and ends at 11:50 AM on weekdays. You will get hands-on experience heating steel, hammering, shaping, and forming your chosen project. For this class, you may choose to create either a blacksmith knife or a mini keris (for decorative purposes only). Every step will be guided to ensure safety and proper technique.

What the fee includes:

The cost covers all materials, forge time, tools, hands-on instruction, safety briefing, and the final piece you make during the session.

What you need to bring:

Because this is a hands-on forging activity, please wear long-sleeve cotton shirt, jeans or cotton pants, and closed-toe footwear. Bring your own drinking water, and a towel if needed. All forging tools and safety equipment will be provided at the forge.

Keris Sheath Making (Sampir Only)

This is a focused 2-hour workshop dedicated to teaching the traditional process of crafting the sampir, the upper wooden section of a keris sheath. In this session, you will learn how to shape, carve, and refine the sampir using hand tools while understanding the cultural significance behind its form and style. The class is designed for beginners and enthusiasts who want to appreciate the artistry behind keris craftsmanship without the full complexity of making an entire sheath.

What the fee includes:

All wood materials, tools, carving equipment, and guided instruction throughout the session. You will bring home the sampir you create.

What you need to bring:

Please wear comfortable clothing, preferably a cotton shirt, and closed-toe footwear. Bring drinking water. All carving tools and safety gear will be provided.
